Using Process Algebra to Validate Behavioral Aspects of Object-Oriented Models

چکیده
We present in this paper a rigorous and automated based approach for the behavioral validation of control software systems. This approach relies on metamodeling, model-transformations and process algebra and combines semiformal object-oriented models with formal validation. We perform the validation of behavioral aspects of object-oriented models by using a projection into a welldefined formal technical space (Finite State Process algebra) where model-checkers are available (we use LTSA; a model checker for Labeled Transition Systems). We then target an implementation platform, which conforms to the semantics of the formal technical space; in turn, this ensure conformance of the final application to the validated specification.

Software architecture is one of the most fundamental products in the process of software development in the areas of behavioral or non- behavioral features like availability or transformability change. There are different ways to evaluate software architecture one of which is the creation of application model. An executable model of software architecture is an official description of architectu...

متن کاملModeling and Evaluation of Stochastic Discrete-Event Systems with RayLang Formalism
In recent years, formal methods have been used as an important tool for performance evaluation and verification of a wide range of systems. In the view points of engineers and practitioners, however, there are still some major difficulties in using formal methods. In this paper, we introduce a new formal modeling language to fill the gaps between object-oriented programming languages (OOPLs) us...

متن کاملComprehending Object and Process Models: An Empirical Study
ÐAlthough prior research has compared modeling performance using different systems development methods, there has been little research examining the comprehensibility of models generated by those methods. In this paper, we report the results of an empirical study comparing user comprehension of object-oriented (OO) and process-oriented (PO) models. The fundamental difference is that while OO mo...
